Recently, I had the pleasure of talking to parents and staff of Cregan Pre-school Training Trust  on the importance of routine eye-care.

Following an eye-test of a 13 year old, performed last week with his mother, I have recently received a visit by the mother, clearly distressed of her son’s lack of sight in one eye.

She was particularly annoyed that she had not had him eye-tested when he was much younger, when treatment for his condition may have been possible.

Unfortunately, the school screening system during first year of primary school, can sometimes be too late in catching problems and with only two minutes used to test each child, not all problems are detected.

Our advice to parents is to have your children seen by a qualified optician, such as ourselves, from the age of 2 years old and at least every 2 years following. It’s Free and the glasses are Free, even some of the designers here are Free and it’s peace of mind.
